Dell announces that the new Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 Convertible Laptop and Webcam Pro will be available soon. The convertible laptop is considered the manufacturer’s most versatile XPS model to date and features an impressive 3K display.

Visually, the new Dell XPS 13 2-in-1, which the manufacturer launched in june, somewhat reminiscent of Microsoft’s Surface Pro. It’s a solid convertible laptop with a simple and elegant design and also has a lot to offer under the hood.

The XPS 13 2-in-1 is powered by 12th Gen Intel Core processors, in which you can choose between an Intel Core i5 1230U with 10 cores and a clock frequency of 4.4 GHz or the i7 1250U with a clock frequency of higher (4.7 GHz).

In addition, you have the choice between 8 GB or 16 GB LPDDR4x main memory in dual-channel mode with a clock frequency of 4,266 MHz, as well as a 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB SSD with connection PCIe 4×4.

The slim case is made of CNC aluminum, 292.5mm wide and 201.2mm high. The XPS 13 2-in-1 has a maximum thickness of 7.8mm when a 5G modem is installed. The Wi-Fi model is a bit thinner at 7.4mm and a bit lighter at 736 grams (vs. 811g).

Display and features

For the display, Dell relies on a 13-inch touchscreen in 3:2 format with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,920 pixels. It achieves a maximum brightness of 500 nits and is therefore certified according to VESA DisplayHDR 400.

Additionally, the sRGB color space is covered at 100%, while the contrast ratio is specified at 1,800:1. The screen is also protected against scratches by Gorilla Glass Victus, supports Dolby Vision and Eyesafe technology.

The separately available XPS Pen, which greatly facilitates typing, is also supported as an option. Windows 11 is used as the operating system, possibly in the Home or Pro variant.

The battery capacity is 49.5 Wh and it is charged via USB Type-C using the included 45 watt power adapter. There is also optional 5G connectivity, otherwise Intel Killer Wi Fi 6E 1675 (AX211) (2×2) and Bluetooth 5.2 are available as wireless standards.

Additionally, there are speakers that are claimed to achieve studio quality according to the manufacturer and support MaxxAudio Pro as well as Waves Nx 3D Audio. A dual array of microphones also promises good intelligibility during video conferences and phone calls.

Additionally, there is a 1080p webcam which also supports login via Windows Hello. The rear camera also has a resolution of 11 megapixels and allows video recordings in 4K quality. There is also a fingerprint sensor.

Combined with the optional Dell XPS Folio, the tablet becomes a true laptop in seconds. Includes a full-size backlit keyboard.

Dell Pro webcam with QHD resolution

Fittingly, the manufacturer also presents the Dell Pro webcam, which is equipped with a Sony Starvis sensor and has a maximum resolution of QHD. The maximum frame rate here is 30 fps. Even 60 fps is possible in Full HD or 720p.

Quad digital zoom, auto focus, auto framing and many other great features are also offered. The field of view is 65 and 78 degrees, while the f/2.0 aperture is quite fast. The webcam is connected via USB-A.

Digital Overlap HDR (DOL-HDR) is also said to deliver lifelike colors in extreme lighting conditions, while 3D and 2D noise reduction further improve image quality.

Price and availability

The Dell Pro webcam is available now directly from the manufacturer’s online store and is priced at 128 euros. The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 laptop, on the other hand, is supposed to be available from August 25, but the price is not yet known here.
