Pokémon Unite has been available on Nintendo Switch for a few months, but now iPhone and Android gamers have joined the fray for some impressive global teams. Rounds consist of teams of up to five players competing to score the most points within a time limit.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that playing with your friends, especially the ones you trust, makes winning that much easier. While you can trust the slow in-game messaging, talking to each other makes it more efficient, so I’ll show you how to do that.
REMARK: With update 13.0.0, Nintendo recently made it possible to connect Bluetooth headphones directly to the Switch without the need for dongles or adapters. So the process has become easier for owners of wireless headsets.
How to use Pokémon Unite voice chat on iPhone and iPad
The latest update introduced Pokémon Unite voice chat to mobile devices. However, you cannot activate it from the main game settings menu. Here’s how to activate it.
Connect your wired or wireless headset to the device you want to use.
- Open Pokemon unite.
To select Unite the battle.
- hurry Start.
- Choose your Pokemon.
To select To confirm.
Now that the game has started, you will notice a headset icon and a microphone icon in the upper left corner of the screen. Both are disabled by default. Tap one of the icons to adjust headset or microphone settings.
Selection Team: Guest means you can only hear or speak to specific players when Team: All means that you will be able to communicate fully with all of your team members.
You are now ready to chat with your friends to strategize and defeat your opponents.
How to use voice chat in Pokémon Unite on Nintendo Switch
You will need to reach trainer level 6 before you can access voice chat. As long as the Nintendo Switch recognizes your headset, you will be able to use it. Follow these steps to get there.
- Connect or plug in a compatible headset to your Nintendo Switch.
If you haven’t already, start Pokemon unite.
- Start a Unite the battle. Please note that you cannot talk to each other in the halls, only during a match.
When you are in the battle arena, press the + button on your Switch controller to bring up a settings menu.
- Now press the – button on your Switch controller for additional settings.
Scroll to Voice chat settings.
- If you want to hear from other people, turn Incoming on Enabled.
If this is your first time doing this, you will need to press the button X button to accept the terms and conditions to continue.
- If you want only invited friends to hear you, change the Incoming litter in the team: guest. The Team: All The option allows you to hear all the members of your team.
If you want others to hear you, turn Outbound to Enabled.
With voice chat enabled, you will be able to talk to your teammates and strategize to win during battles.
Other voice chat options
It’s really frustrating not being able to talk to other people in Pokémon Unite’s main menu or in the lobby. If you want to chat more easily with your teammates, I suggest you use your phone to access Discord or start an instant meeting in Google Meet to talk to your friends while you play. This can be more difficult on mobile, as the voice chat service you are using may appear on the screen and block your viewing of the game. You will just have to experiment and see which one works best for you.
Can you hear me now?
Voice chat is a necessity for any team game, and so is Pokémon’s all-new MOBA. Make sure you have the best headsets available to make the game easier, whether you’re playing from an iPhone, Android, or Nintendo Switch.
